Introduction After studying and working in Art and Design, Angie has now specialised in stained glass work for 12 years, also teaching the subject regularly at adult classes in Somerset. Angie's designs are often inspired by narrative themes, such as folklore, myth and fable. She enjoys incorporating aspects of nature, feminine forms and decorative detail into her work which is usually figurative. Utilising the colour and texture of each piece of glass, along with traditional stained glass painting and firing methods, she controls light and balance to create striking images. Stained Glass Restoration & Conservation
Methods include finding a good match for original glass and
glass painting skills, including replication of original artwork
using traditional methods. Structural repairs are also carried
out, such as re-leading, edge bonding using copper foil and bridging using lead or glue. Also cementing and polishing as required.
The cost of restoring an original stained glass panel can be much the same as
creating a new one as it often involves completely rebuilding the panel
but careful restoration will maintain the original artwork for the future.
